News Release: 9/19/2024

MORRISONVILLE, Wisconsin – United in Christ Lutheran Church in rural Dane County embarked on a new ministry journey earlier this year by introducing ‘Open Table Dinner Church’ to the community. This ministry focuses on providing a changing world a place where people can come together and worship while at the same time sharing a meal. That is, it is a way of “doing church differently” than you might find on a typical Sunday morning.

On September 25, Open Table Dinner Church will welcome the Holy Cow Food Truck, a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - Madison, to Morrisonville to partner and provide the food for that evening’s dinner church worship service. The evening will begin with dinner church worship at 6:00 p.m., which is a worship service and a free meal all in one. At 7:00 p.m. the Holy Cow Food Truck will be available to all and will offer dinner following their unique “pay-what-you-can” model where no one is turned away.

This unique partnership of these two food-related ministries will bring something completely new to Morrisonville and the surrounding area in an effort to connect with the community and provide a different church experience for those who wish to participate.

Open Table Dinner Church seeks to be a place where everyone is welcome no matter who they are or where they come from. Dinner Church invites us to experience an ancient way of doing church. This is a meal. This is worship. But we don’t meet first and then eat. Or eat dinner, and then have church. It all happens simultaneously.

The Holy Cow “church-on-wheels” is a volunteer-operated, fully certified food truck in Dane County, WI and is a ministry of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison. Their mission is to share God's love by coming together in community through food.

Both are ministries of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America).
